I am just new to Search engine optimization field. I am little bit confused with some terms. Could some one please guide me what is Cloaking in SEO ? Is it black hat technique?

Cloaking is a website that brings back altered webpages to search engines creeping site. It is the practice of serving different content to the search engine spiders than what is displayed to human users.

Cloaking is a SEO method of presenting a different content in front of search engine crawlers from that represented in front of browser. This can be done through content which is based on IP-address which comes under black hat SEO techniques. This is used to get higher ranking in major search engines in limited time but this not the best practice for that.
